Riff XR Avatar Creation Tutorial Series on YouTube

Hey hey,

I have created a Tutorial Series playlist for Avatar Creation on YouTube.

This playlist is a step by step guide to making avatars in Riff XR using the Riff SDK in Unreal Engine 5.5, Blender and sometimes other programs for photo editing.

The series include the installation of Unreal Engine 5.5, Blender and setting up everything you need to build mods for both Windows and standalone (Android) for PCVR and Quest Players. It goes over what you need for your avatar in Blender like the armature, shape keys and materials.

Then we import our FBX file into the Riff SDK which is and Unreal Engine 5.5 file and build up the Physics asset to get dynamic bones for the hair and a working physics body for the game. I explain Morph targets and how to update your model in Blender and reimport it into Unreal.

We will look at the Riff XR tools to set up your avatar for the game and create an eye movement and blinking controller (optional). Then we make the hand animation and set everything up for the mod like arm twist bones and visemes. I will go over building your mod for PCVR (Windows) and testing your mod through Riff XR on Steam. Lastly we go over avatar optimization for Standalone, Android (Quest) development and how to set up the Android environment for Unreal Engine to be able to build your mod for Android (Quest) After completing this playlist you should have a working avatar for Riff XR for both PCVR through Steam and Quest Standalone on the Quest store.

Remember though that at this moment all uploaded avatars will be done through Mod.io and will be available for all players in the game. As of right now there are no ways to upload personal or private avatars.
